Starting Monday: Breakfast & Lunch Transition

September 21st is here!

Beginning Monday, all students will need to pay for breakfast and lunch unless they qualify for free or reduced-price meals. Please make sure you have a plan in place for your child this week.

If your child will be eating school lunch, start having those conversations now about your family's expectations. Take a look at the lunch menu for this week and decide together what days they may want a school lunch versus a lunch from home. We have several students who bring lunch from home and also get a school lunch -- please talk with your child so you can better manage your lunch account balance.

If you believe your family may qualify for free or reduced-priced meals, please submit an application as soon as possible to ensure there is no gap in coverage.

Common Questions:
Adding Funds to Student Accounts
Parents can add funds to their child's meal account by sending cash or a check directly to the school with their student. The student simply hands the payment to any cashier in the cafeteria, who will load the money onto their account for immediate use. Parents can also load funds onto a student account through PayPams. There is a $2.95 fee per transaction if this route is chosen. This fee goes directly to PayPams and not Champ's Cafe.

Meal Access & Account Balances
No student is ever denied a meal due to a zero or negative account balance.

How to Apply:
Online Application: Click the button below

If you have any questions or need assistance completing the form, please reach out to the main office or contact Champ's Cafe / CCPS Food & Nutrition Services at 941-575-5400.

September is National Attendance Awareness Month!

This month our students are in an attendance competition against all the Charlotte county schools. Each week, I'll be updating the news with how we are doing compared to the other elementary schools. After three weeks of competition, the Tigers are still leading the pack!

  1. Sallie Jones
  2. Deep Creek
  3. Meadow Park
The race is incredibly close! Only 0.06% separates first and second place, which means every student, every day truly makes a difference.

We will also be giving away PBIS points each week for the grade level that had the best attendance for that individual week, and then the best grade level for the entire month.

Best grade for this week: 5th Grade at 95.29%
But 4th Grade is right there at 95.16%!

Our attendance team is ready to support. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child's attendance, please reach out to Mr. Troast, Ms. Platt or Mr. Sheets.

Establish routines now, so regular attendance is the norm!

Congratulations to our SJE Employees of the Year!

Please help us celebrate our 2026-2027 Sallie Jones Elementary award winners!

These three represent everything that makes Sallie Jones Elementary such an extraordinary place for our students. Day in and day out, they bring passion, dedication, and heart to their work -- and the ripple effect of their efforts touches every classroom, every hallway, and every child in our building. We are incredibly fortunate to have them serving our Tigers, and we hope you will congratulate them when you see them around campus!

Picture Day is coming soon!

Say cheese, Tigers! Fall Picture Day is coming up on Thursday, October 1st.

Information and order forms will be coming home with your student this week. Please keep an eye out in their backpack so nothing gets left behind on picture day!

Between now and then, help your Tiger practice their best smile in the mirror... and maybe start the important debate about which uniform polo color they look best in.
