Thank You for a Wonderful Year!

Dear Sallie Jones Families,

As the school year comes to a close, we want to extend our sincerest gratitude for a truly wonderful year. It has been a joy to watch your children grow, learn, and discover new things every day.

This year's success is a testament to the incredible partnership we share with you. Thank you for your collaboration and support in your child's education – whether it was helping with homework, volunteering in the classroom, attending school events, or simply encouraging your child each day. Your involvement makes an enormous difference, and we deeply appreciate you entrusting us with your children.
We are incredibly proud of all our students have accomplished, and we couldn't have done it without your dedication.

As we wrapped up testing this past week and preliminary scores are starting to roll in, our students once again rocked it! We're excited to see the final state results and can't wait to share our incredible growth with our entire school family. Your students should be so proud of their hard work and accomplishments – please make sure to celebrate them at home too!

If you haven't already, please be sure to follow our Facebook page using the button below and bookmark our website. We'll be posting important information there about Open House events and reminders for the start of the 2025-2026 school year. For your convenience, I've also included a link to the 2025-2026 year-round calendar for reference.

We wish you and your family a fantastic summer filled with rest, fun, and cherished moments. We look forward to welcoming many of you back in July ready for another great year.

Respectfully,
Mrs. Sare and Mr. Troast

Keep Learning Fun All Summer Long! Tips for Parents

Summer is here, and while it's a time for fun and relaxation, it's also a great opportunity to keep young minds active and prevent the "summer slide"! Here are some engaging and easy ways to weave learning into your family's summer adventures:

1. Make Reading a Daily Adventure:
  • Visit Your Local Library: Libraries offer fantastic summer reading programs, engaging events, and a treasure trove of books for all interests and reading levels. Plus, getting their own library card is a fun rite of passage!
  • Read, Read and Readf: Even for older elementary students, being read to is comforting and helps build vocabulary and comprehension. Take turns reading chapters of a book.
  • Explore Different Formats: Don't limit reading to traditional books! Graphic novels, audiobooks, magazines, recipes, and even comic books count.
2. Turn Everyday Activities into Learning Moments:
  • Nature Explorers: Go on nature walks, visit a local park, or even explore your backyard. Identify plants, animals, birds, or insects. Keep a nature journal or draw what you see.
  • Travel & Geography: If you're traveling, look at maps, discuss different states or countries, calculate distances, or research landmarks.
  • Board Games & Puzzles: Many classic games like Monopoly, Uno, Chess, or even simple card games involve math, strategy, critical thinking, and communication skills. Jigsaw puzzles are great for problem-solving!
3. Get Creative & Hands-On:
  • Science Experiments at Home: Simple experiments with household items (like baking soda volcanoes, making slime, or growing crystals) can spark curiosity and teach scientific principles.
  • Creative Writing & Journaling: Encourage them to keep a summer journal, write short stories about their adventures, or even send postcards to family and friends.
  • Build & Create: Provide materials like LEGOs, blocks, cardboard boxes, or craft supplies and let their imaginations run wild. Building forts, creating art, or designing inventions are great for problem-solving and spatial reasoning.
  • Community Engagement: Look for opportunities to volunteer or participate in local community events. This fosters a sense of responsibility and connection.
  • Smart Screen Time: Be proactive with screen time. Monitor screen time and encourage students to engage in a variety of activities. Students can still access SJE online resources such as IXL through the end of June on their own.
